Scouts watch dozens of matches a month. Getting noticed isn't about luck: it's about making their job easy. Here's what really matters.
1. A complete, honest profile
Position, foot, height, team, level and your latest seasons with appearances and goals. A complete profile can be read in 30 seconds: that's what a scout has before deciding whether to look further.
2. Short, clear videos
- 3 to 5 minutes per video: real match actions beat a montage with music.
- Put yourself at the centre: say your shirt colour and number at the start.
- Show what you do off the ball too: positioning, pressing, recoveries.
- For minors, videos are published by the parent, with their consent.
3. Statistics matter, but not alone
Appearances and goals help, but scouts mostly watch how you play: speed of thought, technique under pressure, character. Write two honest lines about the kind of player you are.
4. Behaviour
- Punctuality, respect for teammates and referees, commitment in training: scouts talk to coaches.
- On social media, only post what you'd be happy for a club to see.
5. The right expectations
The path is long and every player has their own timing. Nobody can guarantee you a trial or a contract: be wary of anyone who promises one, especially if they ask for money.
